It's an excellent book. I think this is the first book of its kind I have read, so I can't compare to many other books.

This was overall a quick and quirky read, and I liked reading his analyses and anecdotes stemming from his own anxiety, but at points the information got repetitive. While some of the humor was fun and airy, it kind of bogged down some of the text and truthfully g I've been following Aaron on twitter for years now, and I was excited to see that he released a book relating to anxiety and mental health.

While some of the humor was fun and airy, it kind of bogged down some of the text and truthfully got annoying. Overall, anyone suffering with sever anxiety disorders will already know much of the information presented in the book at least I did , but it was good to have my experiences validated and to know other people go through the same things. I would have liked to read this right when I had initial issues with anxiety.

I know of Aaron Gillies through his Technically Ron Twitter account, with its shrewd observations on the absurdity of politics and life, so I was keen to read this. Of the colossal glaciers that existed in the national park years ago, only 25 remain today. I'd say it's definitely worth reading if you suffer from anxiety, or are close to someone who suffers from anxiety, and want to know more about it, assuming you are OK with the chatty young-bloke style and the drinking references. And, if nothing else everyone should be able to get behind his overriding philosophies of not being a dick and giving yourself a break.

An Anxiety Survival Guide is a fantastic guide to navigating the choppy waters of anxiety. The author leans heavily into their own experience making the whole issue more relatable, even for those of us who don't suffer from anxiety. Aaron Gillies manages to make a difficult subject both hopeful and informative and his easy wit makes the pages fly by. Whether you have Anxiety or not I can't recommend this book highly enough. What a great book. Immensely readable, relatable, down-to-earth and funny but also based on solid research and full of useful information and practical tips and advice. As someone with lived experience of anxiety I both appreciated and recognised the honesty of Gillies accounts of his own personal experiences. Apr 24, Rhi rated it really liked it. As someone with now thankfully after many years, mild GAD, there were many moments of "I've done that" and "oh yeah, been there" which is reassuring.

It's filled with wonderful humor, which is good as it's quite a dense book on a hefty subject. It is definitely more of a self-help book than anything else, so one for those struggling with anxiety.
