Please try again later. Mills has captured the classical mentality. Mills has captured the classical mentality and character of the left- wing reformer From Robespierre to Barack Obama the style has changed but not their decent into autocratic rule. What is similar is their proclaimed idealism and their disregard for the separation of means and ends. It is the first time I have read such a clear explanation of why most revolutionary movements end in violence and suppression of human liberties.

Regardless of your political stance, if you like to think critically, this book is great food for thought. One person found this helpful. I got this book because I thought the title was intriguing. It reads like a stage play which is why I think I particularly enjoyed it. Typically I am not interested in hearing, talking, or reading about politics, but this was much more than that. It was two "men" taking about subjects they are passionate about. And I always find that interesting. I suppose a lot of people will be upset reading this book.
Whether or not someone is a Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal, should not matter all that much. This was a clever idea for a book and it seems like it is always a good idea to see and hear and know all points of view on a matter.
Though this is clearly a work of fiction, Mr. Mills has an interest in showing Obama in a certain light and he clearly accomplishes what he set out to do.
For those who have never spoken to Obama, it seems that Mr. Mills did a very good job to make the reader feel like a "fly on the wall" during his conversations. There is some humor in this, too. Once again, all politics aside, this was an interesting an idea for a book and worth the short amount of time it takes to read it. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful.
Selwyn Mills presents a conservative view with verve and a smooth facility with the issues of the day. One may or may not agree with it and its caricature of Obama as having made a Faustian pact with the devil; but given the prominence of such views today, he offers a valuable understanding of how many Americans think, feel, and consequently vote. Mills creates a scenario of reflection on the inner being of Barack Obama as we eavesdrop on the dialog between the President and Lucifer. The book presents us with a poignant analysis of who Barack Obama is as the story unfolds.
The dialog between Obama and Lucifer reads like a two man play with no need for props because the dialog tells the story. Mills provides us with fact backed insight about Obama, albeit a distinctly conservative point of view, that whittles the hype and mystique of the president's persona to its base motivations. Mills' book is a much more entertain- ing read than Machiavelli's "The Prince" but still very revealing of the soul warping effect of politics.
