The authors bring out their experience in dealing with ailments of the body applying Yoga in such great detail. A host of common and not so common ailments are covered - explanation of the relevant anatomy, examples of people they treated with Yoga and the routines used. As a Yoga teacher I find this book immensely that is just an understatement helpful.
I routinely use and refer this beautiful presentation to address my student's concern. The authors understanding and respect for the patient's body and a diverse audience a book can reach is evident in the routines which are mild and curative, in the precautions and helpful wholesome practices that can also be followed.

The publishers have done a terrific job in the quality of the photographs, printing and the overall book itself. Another jem of a book about application of Yoga for what is needed most today. The authors and publishers have truly done a yoeman service by making such content available. As a new yoga teacher, I was told about this book by Larry Payne. I've given it a quick read and look forward into diving into learning more about using yoga as a therapy tool. Both my husband and mom have lower back issues and I was hoping it would give me some ideas for working with them.
The writing is clear, the book is well organized.

I'd say that it's a good book to add to any yoga teacher's bookshelf and a good primer for anyone interested in yoga as a therapy tool. I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, I needed some kind of gentle exercise that would address the areas of pain and stiffness without exacerbating the problems I already have.

I liked that each chapter has a thorough explanation of each ailment's difficulties, how to overcome them, success stories of others who have been healed using yoga, and a list of things to do to improve health, nutrition, and general well-being in addition to yoga.
But the yoga poses themselves were not what I expected. They had different names than traditional yoga poses.
Many of the poses included actions did not seem to flow well through each posture when I tried them. And the poses did not I liked that each chapter has a thorough explanation of each ailment's difficulties, how to overcome them, success stories of others who have been healed using yoga, and a list of things to do to improve health, nutrition, and general well-being in addition to yoga. And the poses did not appear to help my ailments.
Other yoga poses that I've tried with a yoga therapist or in yoga classes have helped me much better than the ones described in this book. For instance, the chapter on menstruation doesn't even mention half-moon pose or pigeon pose, both of which are known to aid in relieving menstrual cramps.
I wish there were more poses recommended in each chapter, instead of just the poses for each ailment. There's not a lot of poses to choose from, and the most of the same ones are repeated in various chapters again and again. I was disappointed in this book.
I suppose I just expected more from it.
