Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Blue Bird is struggling with her lot in life, she is the daughter of her tribes chief, the daughter raised like a son until her father finally gets a son. All in all a good read, however my 12 year old really wasn't interested at all, she read the first five chapters and proclaimed that it was too boring so for that I have to mark it down a little bit in personal choice. Alone in this strange new place, what is one young weka to do? Grand Adventures walking tour is epic and really does expose you to some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Aroha has got to be the coolest little chick and her adventure leads the reader on an adventure of their own. The two intertwine when Wild Horse goes after Blue Bird to bring her home and ends up deciding to join her.
Many dangers and other challenges face her but with courage and determination, one weka can go a long way. Aroha is a cheeky character, and her adventures should appeal to children aged seven and up. Adventure and humour mingle together into an appealing, fast-paced read.
The book is illustrated throughout in black and white and as everything is roughly based on fact, there are also several educational appendices. This is a book for any animal lover, young or old. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Twitter account.

Writers Plot Readers Read. Battle of the Birds by Lee Murray Review: Armageddon Shadow by Lee Pletzers Review: Dead or in Prison by Yahu Review: Currently the vote seems to tend towards ApplePie although some have said the Roman Splendor has more lasting quality.
The middle one needs to be enlarged so you can see the horrible shadow effect. Shadows should apparently never be used. Alas, it looked best in the back blurb.
And here's Aroha and some friends: Aroha the weka is curious and smart. She also has a taste for human food. One day her tummy leads her into trouble and she is snatched from her home in Grey.
