My previous work, which has resulted, among other pieces, in a monograph Ghost-Watching American Modernity , and two volumes co-edited with Esther Peeren The Spectralities Reader from and Popular Ghosts , explores narratives of haunting as responses to different processes of modernization in the American hemisphere and beyond. Latin American literature, culture and film, with a particular focus on contemporary Argentine poetry. Others of his fields of expertise, in which he has also published extensively, are the history of the Spanish language especially lexical history , textual criticism, bibliography, history of the book, and manuscript studies.

My broad area of research is twentieth Spanish American literature, with a particular interest in the avant-garde poetry of the s and s, especially that of Neruda and Vallejo. He has also published on Early-modern and medieval Spanish literature, Latin American cultural studies and modern Spanish literature. His current research focuses on cross-linguistic lexical influence and the interaction between language and culture in various settings, including contemporary literature and humour.

My research focuses on contemporary Spanish literature, with a particular emphasis on memory, trauma and exile. The literature of the Spanish Golden Age sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and theatre in particular. He is currently working on: He has extensively published on genes involved in the regulation of the neural substrate of language. He is also interested in evolutionary processes responsible for the emergence of language in modern humans. He has conducted as well research on language deficits in people afected by developmental disorders Parkinson disease, Williams syndrome. He has translated from English into Spanish different reference books on Linguistics and literature.
