While I mildly enjoyed 'Winter Street' the first book of the trilogy , I thought maybe I'd check this out since it was readily available at the library. Unfortunately I'd definitely say the quality dropped and I'm not sure if I care to how it ends. So we're back at the inn, and things are messy. Kelley and Margaret are On mutually good terms? Unfortunately Mitzi has left George because she doesn't love him and she's worried about her soldier son, Bart, who i Weak middle book.
Unfortunately Mitzi has left George because she doesn't love him and she's worried about her soldier son, Bart, who is missing in action. Eldest son Patrick is in jail for 18 months and is mostly out of the picture. His wife Jennifer is addicted to painkillers, which will come to haunt her at the end of the book. Kevin and Isabelle are proud and happy parents of a baby girl, but Kevin's past comes to bother him in the form of his ex-wife, Norah.
And Ava is going through relationship troubles with Scott and isn't helped when her ex, Nathaniel shows up saying he still loves her. I think that mostly covers the book. I wasn't a fan of this because it seemed like a reset of the first book.

Ava can't decide who she wants to be with, Margaret is seeing her lover Drake, etc. The past keeps coming back to haunt them Kevin's ex-wife shows up, we still don't know what's going on with Bart, etc. The book also ends on mild cliffhangers some resolutions here, others not so much there, etc. It wasn't exactly a great tension-filled page-turner it's more of a filler and I'm not exactly jumping up and down for the last in the book triology.
It slightly annoys me that I didn't wait to binge-read or not since I really don't know if I care about these characters. Anyway, if you liked 'Winter Street' I'm not sure if you'll like this one. I'm not sure if it's the "middle installment syndrome" or if there's some other issue going on. Borrow from the library! Dec 10, Brittany rated it it was ok. I listened to the audiobook because it was Christmas-themed and had no wait thru my library. Hilderbrand's novels are pretty awful, but I have read a handful of them.
They are like Hallmark movies that make you roll your eyes at the cheezy dialogue and bad story. However, I do stoop to them occasionally for the seasonal setting I want to enter that winter scene on the book jacket and some mindless entertainment. This one focuses on one large family which made it difficult for me to keep track I listened to the audiobook because it was Christmas-themed and had no wait thru my library.
This one focuses on one large family which made it difficult for me to keep track of the characters. I didn't read the first book which I guess also focuses on this Nantucket family. There is a lot going on like separated parents reuniting, a son in jail, a son with a new child, a son missing in the middle east, and a daughter in a precarious relationship.
None of the characters or stories were interesting to me aside from the missing son which isnt spoken about that much. There is a heartfelt note from the author about her friend's 8-yr-old child that died last year during the Nantucket winter stroll.
Jan 05, Kim Kaso rated it liked it Shelves: This felt like a classic middle book in a family drama with romance book. Break everybody up that had gotten together in the last book, give them a slew of problems, and just leave the reader hanging. It was mean-spirited towards the characters, and I am just glad to be done. As I very much enjoyed the first book, I am very disappointed at the manipulative, commercial plotting.
Not the fun, enjoyable read I wanted to start the New Year. Aug 21, Sue added it. A slow start and hard to figure out who was who An ok story with an almost predictable ending I'm so glad I waited until I could binge read all three of these at one time! The waiting would have killed me!! Nov 12, Suzanne The Bookish Libra rated it liked it. These books are quick and easy reads and I do enjoy the domestic drama that surrounds the Quinn family around the holidays.
Dec 05, Cassidy Cassidys. Bookshelf rated it really liked it Shelves: Oh Quinn family you are so addicting. I finished Winter Stroll a week ago and I'm trying my hardest not to dive right back in with Winter Storms. I loved being back in with all the Quinn family drama and scandal, but I will say while I still really enjoyed this one, there were a few aspects that I didn't enjoy as much.
I mean, come on already!
Jun 03, Eileen rated it it was ok. I won this as a Goodreads First Read. There were too many different themes and characters in this book for me to track, I had to keep thinking back and sometimes referring back to the last section to make sure of the relationships. Kevin and Isabelle are celebrating the baptism of their beautiful baby girl, but not without their own difficulties. Ava and Scott are dating, yet obstacles are testing their relationship.
Can the Quinn's find joy in the Christmas season? Looking forward to the conclusion to the trilogy. Love light reads by Elin Hilderbrand. This is the second in a series of stories of winter on Nantucket. Even though I generally don't read Christmas themed stories, I am enjoying these. The Quinn family is having its share of drama, making it a fun read. On to the next one. Oct 27, Angie rated it really liked it Shelves: Jan 13, Diana rated it really liked it Shelves: This book had some closure to the conflicts mentioned in the first book, but it added some surprising twists to other relationships that seemed to be "perfect".
It continues with the same family, though focuses on a different member and their relationship issues. It was a good sequel, though I do think one person was forgiven a bit too quickly of their transgressions. Kelley Quinn owns the Winter Street Inn on Nantucket and the family is gathering to celebrate not only the holidays but also the baptism of the newest Quinn.
Hilderbrand quickly catches us up on what has happened since Christmas. It has been a hard year and a joyous one.
I slipped right back into the story and loved the familiar surroundings and inn. Kevin and Isabelle have a beautiful new baby. Ava is dating Scott. Kelley is now single and getting along with both of his ex-wives. Mitzi shows up Kelley Quinn owns the Winter Street Inn on Nantucket and the family is gathering to celebrate not only the holidays but also the baptism of the newest Quinn.
Mitzi shows up unexpectedly. The past year has been hard on her. Her relationship is on the fritz and thoughts of her son are foremost in her mind. Things get complicated when the past interferes with the present and unexpected guests arrive. Hilderbrand deliciously weaves jealousy, love, personal growth, passion and the joy and pitfalls of family into her tale.
Life can be complicated and we might not always get along but family and hope bind us. Hilderbrand made me giggle; yell at characters, cry and most of all care for this crazy, chaotic, beautifully complicated family. Winter Stroll left us with unanswered questions and one in particular haunts me.
However, I am more than willing to wait another year and look forward to my return trip to Nantucket and the Winter Street Inn. Erin Bennett narrators Winter Stroll and I was delighted to see her return. It is my hope she continues to narrate the series. Elin Hilderbrand had a trying year personally both with her own health issues and the loss of a loved one. Her powerful, heartfelt message at the end of this novel about broke my heart and at the same time filled me with the holiday spirit.

This book takes place a few weeks before Christmas, but still had the feel of a holiday read. Even with everything going on with each of the family members, you get a clear picture of how much they love each other, because of and in spite of the craziness.
Can't wait to see what book three brings!
Lots of craziness going on with this family. Second book in the series and it has been a year. I will say since it's been a few months since I read the first book I had a hard time remember who was ho because there are a lot of characters. I would recommend waiting for the series to finish then read them or read this one right after the first one. Well written as always and entertaining. Shows how all families have drama big and small. Nov 16, Lisa B. Can't wait to read book three. Dec 04, Basic B's Guide rated it liked it. I enjoyed this book as much as the first in the series and devoured it over the last day or so.
The Quinn family has plenty of drama to fill the pages of twenty books! I love how close yet, dysfunctional the Quinn family is. The importance of family is evident in these books. This book will give you all the wintery Christmas feels. I also loved the mention of a tree made from stacked books. Does anyone feel like Drake is a little misplaced in the storyline? I guess Margaret needs a love interest I enjoyed this book as much as the first in the series and devoured it over the last day or so. I guess Margaret needs a love interest but I just don't feel like he fits in with the rest of the gang.
This is my third Elin Hilderbrand novel so I found myself curious to learn more about her. I was surprised to learn of our breast cancer survivor connection. Hilderbrand started MamaStrong, a slogan created by her thenyear-old daughter before the surgery, to help connect with others who are fighting cancer.
When I was first diagnosed a dear friend of mine created a Facebook group called Katie Strong. It was a place where I could share my story and keep everyone informed. Soon after my chemotherapy started, the same friend started making "Katie Strong" shirts. Throughout my journey people posted pictures wearing their shirts in support.
It got me through some of the hardest times. Connecting with others is what makes my heart happy. We can't go through life alone, especially when we are facing cancer. Sharing my journey has been a beautiful thing. My cancer diagnosis has in some ways been a gift. It has helped me focus on what is important, deepen my faith, and meet some amazing people. Winter Stroll by Elin Hilderbrand is the story of the Quinn family: Part of the Winter Street series, Winter Stroll can easily be read as a standalone novel. Told from the perspective of each family member, the story follows their intertwined threads. It has been a hard year for the Quinns: The family is drawn together once more for the baptism of baby Genevieve, but can they stay together?
This was my first Elin Hilderbrand holiday novel and guys, I was totally unprepared. I had been seeing it all over Bookstagram, so when I saw it at our local supermarket I immediately put it into the cart. The story is one to get lost in and will appeal to fans of Debbie Macomber.
The characters are real and felt to me like an extension of my own family. The drama draws you in and keeps you glued until the end. In all I give the book 3. Dec 26, Monica rated it liked it. This book was more difficult to read than the first one as it seemed like everyone was determined to implode their lives!
What a mess we weave when we first begin to deceive If you think Ava's love life was settled at the end of Winter Street you would be wrong and even though she desperately needs to talk to her mom, Margaret, she can't catch a minute alone with her.
