The book I refused to all it a novel is quite a bit longer than average and by the end, they hav I can't believe how many people liked this book!!
The book I refused to all it a novel is quite a bit longer than average and by the end, they have only briefly kissed twice, been really horny frequently, and the father just found out he was the father of the child. Massive cliff hanger that didn't leave me hanging. I wouldn't read the second book to see if they live happily ever after, or any books by the same author. I have read lots of similar books, surrounding the whole rockstar, bad boy thing and this was by far the worst. May 18, PhrasingComplex added it.
Look, there's no doubt that there is some poor English teacher out there who wept themselves to sleep each night. What really got me, though? The use of the word "His" in place of "He's". Quite frankly, the grammar was downright embarrassing. It was long-winded, repetitive and often tedious.
There was more filler than there was substance. And 3-year-olds don't go to school.
Sep 01, Jennifer rated it really liked it. When the ending came I was growling because that just couldn't be the end. But, yep, it was. How I hate those. Right at a very crucial part I might add. Now I'm dying to know what happened and I have to wait. Aug 05, Akyraa rated it did not like it Recommends it for: Aug 23, Jessie rated it really liked it. I hope I don't have to wait long for book 2!! Sep 01, Felicity 'flick' rated it it was amazing. Can not wait to find out what happens hopefully some happily ever after.
May 07, Antonella rated it liked it. Just okay read with lot of ups and downs in writing and characters. Sep 04, Merrie rated it liked it. Lordy, I'm so torn on this review. I first read this book back in October and at that time, I loved this book. Since it was so long ago that I read it, I figured I needed a good re-read in order to write a review. I don't really want to give everything away in the first paragraph, so let's get started. Kendal and Jax fell met and fell in love while they were i Lordy, I'm so torn on this review.
Kendal and Jax fell met and fell in love while they were in their early 20's. Together for 2 years, Kendal was a college student and Jax was lead singer for a local band, Decoy. When Kendal finds herself pregnant, she is not just shocked, but realizes that in order for Jax to see his dreams for Decoy come true, she is going to have to end her relationship with him and keep the pregnancy a secret.
Now it's four years later and Decoy is a huge success and Kendal is finding her way with the help of her parents and friends as a single mom to Finley. She is fulfilling her dream as a hairdresser, but as her son gets older, she starts to question her decision in keeping Finley from Jax. Once word gets around that Decoy is back home and making plans to stay a while, Kendal now knows that she is going to have to find a way to come clean to Jax. The problem, she's not sure on how to find him. Little does she know that fate is working that out for her all on it's own. Kendal has a great group of long time friends Jessica, Tanya, Maisy and when she meets Sophie, it's just one more girlfriend to add to the group.
Sophie just so happens to be the fate that is going to intervene right smack in the middle of Kendal's life. There's a lot I'm not saying here, I gotta keep some mystery. Here's the nitty gritty. First, I think that the story line here is a really good one, but I think that the author struggled putting the whole thing together. The book is very unnecessarily wordy. There are a lot of times where the author described things, that almost made me feel like she was trying to fill space.
Kendal was a little bit of a dual personality character. She appears at times to be fiercely independent and someone who really knows who she is. But enter Jax and everything seems to turn to mush. For example, once they rediscover one another, Jax makes it pretty clear about his feelings regarding Kendal, which are strong, but every time he makes a comment that is even remotely flirtatious, her inner dialogue questions it "Clearly he couldn't mean me?
I do think that the story was told well from Jax's POV. The author did a good job with "male speak". The supporting characters in this book are written very well. There is great chemistry among all of them. The only one I'm on the fence about is Mark, there was just something about him that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Now I know I pointed out a lot of "bad" with the story, so let me focus on some of the good.
The way the author wrote the relationship between Kendal and Finley was lovely. She did a really job not focusing on the stress of single motherhood and instead focusing on the beauty of motherhood. The relationship that Kendal had with her parents was also written really well. Even though Kendal got pregnant at a really young age and as far as her parents knew, it was more of a one night stand the story she sold them , they never held that against her.
While this may not be my favorite rock star series, I will continue to read it, if anything, to get the closure. I'm not really sure if I can give this series a full on recommendation, especially if you've read series such as Stage Dive or the likes of. However, if you haven't yet had the pleasure of indulging in some Rock Star love, then this is a good series to start with.
The book I refused to all it a novel is quite a bit longer than average and by the end, they have only briefly kissed twice, been really horny frequently, and the father just found out he was the father of the child. She loves to hear from you, so feel free to contact her. He's very well drawn. Today she continues to do legal work as a director of environmental research and is involved in consulting on numerous toxic waste investigations. The Smith Rock area hosts many types of birds like the canyon wren and the white-throated swift , including birds of prey such as prairie falcons and golden eagles. Setting those aside it is a nice book and a decent story line, Over all I did enjoy it.
Dec 13, Diane rated it really liked it. Young and unsure, Kendal made the decision to not tell Jax he was going to be a father — instead, breaking off their relationship to allow him to pursue his music career. The secondary characters are supportive and fun — I hope they get their own stories. This story is continued on in the next book of the series and I look forward to it!
Oct 06, Lisa rated it really liked it. A second chance with your first love makes for an amazing story. Add in a secret that has been kept that is life changing and you know you're in for a ride.
Kendal and Jax were and still remain in love with each other. Kendal let Jax follow his dream as a rockstar and let him go.
Now he's back and still wants her but the secret she has kept could drive a permanent wedge between them. This was a great read. T has created a highly enjoyable story, with great characters and kept it on point. This w A second chance with your first love makes for an amazing story. This was the story and there was no distractions from it. This gave you the chance to get to know the main players and fall in love with them. A great ending and I'm ready for more of Jax and Kendal's story. Oct 08, Saskia 'follow my shoes' Smith rated it really liked it. I enjoyed the book, though it seemed to take ages before they meet up again, which made some parts a bit pointless, but it still plods along nicely.
But once you get in to the actual story line when they meet again it is really good, it's a shame it takes until half way through the book nail the good parts start. Setting those aside it is a nice book and a decent story line, Over all I did enjoy it. I will recommend it to anyone who wants a good story line, nice smooth read! Apr 09, Kym rated it it was amazing Shelves: I really enjoyed this story.
This book had me on edge the whole time. I was frustrated at how long it took Kendall to tell Jax her secret though. It took the whole damn book, but the story kept me captivated.
Enjoyed all their friends too. Finley was so cute. Sep 28, L. Mertz rated it really liked it. It needs to be edited a bit more and then I'd think it would be perfect. But its still a great story. Aug 28, Tammy Fisher rated it really liked it. I would of luved to give this book 5 stars as the basis 4 a fantastic series is all there characters storyline but the editing needs to be done so bad I hope this can be corrected in book 2 because I really liked the storyline so this is why I had to give it 4 stars.
Aug 06, K. Climbers also need to be fairly stout climbers as most routes start in the low 5. The Marsupials are the farthest climbing area from the main entrance of the park. To get there, go across the bridge and turn right on Wolf Tree Trail. Follow this around the canyon following the Crooked River and turn up Burma Road.
The beginning of the Marsupials starts just off Burma Road. Famed climber Beth Rodden made the first female ascent of The Optimist 5. The Monkey Face area has many routes, but is known for the iconic rock spire known as "Monkey Face," a distinctly primate looking face when viewed from certain angles. This iconic tower is feet tall and boasts many routes.
Directly across from the "mouth" of Monkey Face is a prominent rock outcropping The Diving Board that comes fairly close to the tower. There is tyrollean traverse gear nailed down on the outcropping and within the "mouth" of Monkey Face. The idea is to tether yourself with a safety line to the slackline and then walk out over the expanse of open air keeping your balance. The Morning Glory Wall sits in just past the Shiprock and is one of the busier walls in the park.
The Morning Glory Wall a wide range of climbs but some of the more notable routes are 5 Gallon Buckets 5. It is feet tall and has climbing routes, many multi-pitch routes that have loose rock. The trail to Rope-De-Dope is the gravel Canyon Trail and goes north before you walk across the main bridge into the park. If you are starting from The Bivy , take the Rope-de-Dope Trail that comes around the back of the block.
The Rope-De-Dope Block is a common place for beginners to be able to top-rope or learn how to lead climb on easier routes. Top ropes can be set up from a small scramble up the back of the block to get to the top anchors. The Ships and Gullies area is a collection of smaller, in-the-shade areas that have a range of climbing difficulties.
The Smith Rock Groups cover a large swath of the climbing park stretching from Asterisk Pass to the southern border of the park. Generally, these can be areas to get away from the crowds and the sun. Some of the more popular routes are Sky Ridge 5. The West Side Crags offer a much cooler side of the park in the summer and a break from the normally fairly crowded sections of the park. The most direct route is to hike to Asterisk Pass from the main trail into the park just west of The Christian Brothers area. It is a scramble to get into the slot and then it is a 5.
This can be dangerous if done without climbing equipment and experience. The park's day-use area has a visitor center, picnic facilities, and restrooms. The day-use area is open from dawn to dusk year-round. There is also a tent-only campground for overnight visitors.
