The last act of vengeance perpetrated on the Wainwrights was a home burglary in which Sarah reluctantly aided her father and brothers by keeping Cord Wainwright busy. After the robbery, the Caldwells beat Cord badly.

A few weeks later, Sarah was in town disguised as a young boy, when Cord recognized her and captured her. He took her to the Wainwright ranch until he was able to turn her over to the law. In that time spent at the ranch, Sarah and Cord formed an uneasy truce which developed into something more. Together they worked at getting the families together and stopping the feud. However, finding out just who was behind the rustling and other dastardly deeds would come as a big surprise to all involved. I very much enjoyed this book and was reluctant to put it down.

In spite of the fact that Sarah and Cord come from warring families, they find love but, more importantly, find God in the midst of their struggles.

The author uses Scripture appropriately while weaving this engrossing tale. I was captivated by the author's storytelling and could not wait to finish the book. My only suggestion or criticism is that I had hoped there would have been more closure on the outcome of Allis's deviousness and treachery - all due to her jealousy. I was left hanging in In spite of the fact that Sarah and Cord come from warring families, they find love but, more importantly, find God in the midst of their struggles.

I was left hanging in this regard. Overall I really look forward to reading more books by this author. I have not read an author who did such a good job writing Christian fiction since Janette Oke and Lori Wick. Nov 28, Soledad rated it really liked it. Really enjoyed reading this book, and I would have given it 5 stars but like in all of Kathleen Morgan's books there are certain things I don't like mostly things my feminist side won't accept.

But for the most part this was a really good book, the plot and characters were great to read about; you kind of get lost in the family feud that is going on, but at the same time it isn't overwhelming so you can enjoy the romantic and Christian side to the book. I especially loved the relationship betw Really enjoyed reading this book, and I would have given it 5 stars but like in all of Kathleen Morgan's books there are certain things I don't like mostly things my feminist side won't accept. I especially loved the relationship between Cord and Nick, and thus they were my favorite characters.

If you have read other books by Morgan then I am sure you will like this one as well. Arguably this is the best I have read from her. Nov 07, Dawn rated it it was amazing Shelves: A pair who is fighting their attraction to each other.

Can they betray their families to see where this attraction leads? Sarah's youngest brother shows up to rescue her, but in the process has a serious asthma attack. He acted like a three year old and at one point during a conversation with his brother, Nick, he thought that Sarah loved Nick. The hero was justified in what he was upset over, but at the same time he learned like we all do that holding resentment only hurts the people you love, and hurts you even more. The adventure was pretty neat—especially the mystery surrounding the missing cattle. I mean this IS a Christian novel. Buy the selected items together This item:

Or will forgiveness be the answer? I've spent the last week reading this at lunch at work. The characters are witty and funny and very believable. I've read several of Kathleen Morgan's books before and like always wasn't let down. Looking forward to book 2. I really enjoyed this book. It's an excellent example of Christian Historical Fiction.

The characters are flawed, but they manage to communicate, and overcome a long-standing family feud to come to a place of forgiveness. The writing was simple, making this a quick read that nicely passed a few hours. And the romance didn't move to quickly, but was believably done. Aug 18, Sarah rated it it was ok. There's a reason why this was a free eBook from the library. Feb 28, Amy rated it really liked it. This was a much more complex story than I had imagined from the description.

I really appreciated that the characters had some real depth to them. The good guys weren't just good not the bad guys just bad. I also liked that the resolution took some time in coming together. The story didn't just end with a sudden change of heart with everything suddenly coming up roses.

This is also the first book in a series, yet the story came to a full conclusion, rather than leaving some obvious plotlines han This was a much more complex story than I had imagined from the description. Aug 30, Dorry Lou rated it really liked it. This book gets your attention right from the beginning. It is about a feud between the Caldwells and the Wainwrights. There is romance, betrayal, and forgiveness.

May 17, Cathie rated it it was amazing. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. As all of Kathleen Morgan's books, this was very good. The story plot was great. But the romance…just was not my type, I guess. Nick was a lot of fun. And a very wise brother that I wish Cord had listened to more, lol. His attitude toward life and his desire to see his brother happy was very commendable.

Knowing how much he sacrificed for Cord was amazing. Another character I liked was the heroine, Sarah. She was the character I could sympathize with during this story. I felt bad for her. What a jam to be in—loving a man and his family who your own flesh and blood is determined to hate. A few times I thought he needed a good slap. I mean, I understand that he is upset because of what her family is doing to his…but I felt like he needed to put himself in her shoes and try to understand a little. Sad, as I usually like the quiet, troubled heroes. As I mentioned, the plot and writing was great.

The scenes were vivid and the characters pretty fleshed out. I commend Kathleen on her writing and the abilities to bring her story to life. The adventure was pretty neat—especially the mystery surrounding the missing cattle. The love story, as I mentioned, was the biggest disappointment for me.

I never saw them falling in love with the other person for who that person was, but more for what that person looked like. When they married they still had a lot unsettled between them and their attraction to each other seemed only skin deep. To be fair to this author and other fans of hers, I have a feeling that many historical romance readers who like a lot of romance in the books will really enjoy this book. Her hair is gorgeous!!!

View all 3 comments. Fans of Christian Romance. Living as his prisoner is terrible, but as the days pass, she begins to see Cord as more than an angry rancher. Growing affection between the two complicates their lives. Having a relationship would mean betraying their families.

Are they willing to give up their families in the name of love? As Cord comes to terms with his father and Sarah begins to realize how unhealthy her family is, there seems to be a hope for their future. Will their relationship survive? Or will they continue the patterns set by their families so many years ago?

I am happy to say that it is far more than a simple story of two people from feuding families who fall in love. The plot included plenty of romance fused with character development and spiritual lessons. I have personal experience with dysfunctional families and I can say the author was right on target with her depictions. To someone outside of a dysfunction family i. The way the author brought Sarah around to a healthy mindset was perfect.

I will definitely be keeping this book and reading it again! I can recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Christian romances. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell Publishers as part of a blog tour.

I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. May 21, Kristina rated it liked it. Whichever it happens to be, it rings true of Sarah Caldwell when her father and brothers bully her into helping them steal from the Wainwrights. I'm sure this sounds like a typical plot, except you must know that the Wainwrights and Caldwells have been nursing a family feud that started the same night Cord Wainwright, now in his mid-twenties, was born.

After distracting Cord by trying to seduce him, Sarah's brot "Things don't always go as planned," says the old adage; or maybe it's Murphy's Law. After distracting Cord by trying to seduce him, Sarah's brothers beat him for his impertinence, leaving him bruised and seething.

Imagine Cord's delight when he sees the same woman who seduced him walking down the street, albeit dressed as a boy. Cord takes Sarah under citizen's arrest; however if he knew what would come of that action, I wonder if he would have arrested her at all. I'm torn about this book to be honest. I gave it three stars because I'm not sure if I liked it or didn't like it. The book starts off quickly and I like that for sure. It pulls the reader in quite rapidly which is always a plus. Morgan includes quite a few plot twists and turns. A few were a bit predictable, but a few others I couldn't have called.

My main issue with this book is with the romance. It seems that their feelings for each other are only talked about in the arena of their own 'self-talk' or insinuated by Cord's brother as opposed to conversations or interactions between the characters themselves. I'm not sure how to describe it other than that. Also, I must note that a few of the romantic scenes were emotionally intense. Don't worry, there were no clothes off indecent scenes I mean this IS a Christian novel.

So intense that at times I felt I was intruding on a scene that I shouldn't be privy to. I would gladly read another book by her. I received a copy of A Heart Divided for review purposes. All opinions are genuine and my own: Nov 02, Julia rated it really liked it. Sarah's father is willing to sacrifice her virtue and chastity to get revenge on the Wainwright family. She must distract the barn worker while her brothers and father rob from the house so they can pay for their younger brothers asthma medicine.

She tries to impress the young handsome stable worker, little does she know he is Edmund Wainwright's youngest son. Her brothers and father come to the rescue and nearly kill Cord, the youngest son. They tie him up and leave, but was this the last time Sarah's father is willing to sacrifice her virtue and chastity to get revenge on the Wainwright family.

The story plot was great. Kathleen Morgan's writing style was very engaging. I felt that the characters never came to love each other, but was just attracted to the other person's physical looks. From other reviews I see that the majority loved this book, but as for me, I wasn't crazy about it.

A Heart Divided, Heart of the Rockies Series #1

While I wasn't all out crazy about this book, I did like some of the characters in here.

What a jam to be in--loving a man and his family who your own flesh and blood is determined to hate. Cord's attitude and behavior toward Sarah for this was really annoying. A few times I thought he needed a good slap. I mean, I understand that he is upset because of what her family is doing to his Speaking of Cord, I didn't really care for him. I'm pretty sure that for more than half the book, Cord was scowling, lol.

I just couldn't really connect or sympathize with this hero. Sad, as I usually like the quiet, troubled heroes. As I mentioned, the plot and writing was great. The scenes were vivid and the characters pretty fleshed out. I commend Kathleen on her writing and the abilities to bring her story to life. The adventure was pretty neat--especially the mystery surrounding the missing cattle. The love story, as I mentioned, was the biggest disappointment for me. Many times Cord looks at her wish desire, and she longs for his kisses, and When they married they still had a lot unsettled between them and their attraction to each other seemed only skin deep. When I finally reached the end and shut the book, I couldn't imagine--if they were real people--that their marriage would last very long. I always hate when I come to a book I just don't like, but it happens. Worst is when I'm pretty sure I am in the minority with my views for disliking a book. To be fair to this author and other fans of hers, I have a feeling that many historical romance readers who like a lot of romance in the books will really enjoy this book.

It just wasn't my cup of tea.
