Series was designed to cover groups of books generally understood as such see Wikipedia: Like many concepts in the book world, "series" is a somewhat fluid and contested notion. A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations , on the part of the author or publisher. For now, avoid forcing the issue with mere "lists" of works possessing an arbitrary shared characteristic, such as relating to a particular place.

  • Números Naturais e Operações (Como Eu Ensino) (Portuguese Edition).
  • Early Clinical Intervention and Prevention in Schizophrenia;
  • Prada and Prejudice.
  • Nathaniel and the Key to the World of Shadows.

Avoid series that cross authors, unless the authors were or became aware of the series identification eg. Also avoid publisher series, unless the publisher has a true monopoly over the "works" in question. So, the Dummies guides are a series of works.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I enjoyed this first book in the Clint Lane series written by Colonel Reeder. My oldest son attended and graduated from the U. Military Academy at West Point. This book was written in My son didn't attend the Academy until 40 years after this but it was amazing how similar living conditions were, even with the 40 year difference.

I would have liked to read more about the daily lives of cadets. There were brief descriptive passages about daily life scattered throughout the book but it's easy to see that the author's interests lie in the sports, especially football and baseball, at the Academy. This was a fun read, though, bringing back many memories of my son's plebe year.

West Point and the Naval Academy Exchange "Prisoners" for a Semester

Not all the memories were easy ones but plebe year helps mold the cadets into future leaders in our military. This series was written for young people but adults with interests in West Point or the military should enjoy these stories as well. One person found this helpful. Read this as a child and was surprised that it holds up-part of a series following the progress of several cadets through West Point and the beginning of their careers.

It is dated in that the books were written in the s maybe early s and there are some cringeworthy scenes but Reeder did give an interesting story of young men growing into leaders. The themes of honesty, learning from mistakes, and dealing with bullying are nicely addressed.

This book and the sequels are books middle school students would probably enjoy. First read it more than 40 years ago and enjoyed it as much now as I did then. Colonel Reeder did an excellent job on the entire Clint Lane Series. A good mixture of suspense, morality, and the faults as well as the good aspects in the main characters part. Perhaps a bit outdated for today's youth but still a good primer for anyone interested in a service academy.
